Mobilarm

Mobilarm, manufacturers of man overboard systems and VHF personal locator beacons, provides sailors of all levels a means to safeguard crew from falling overboard undetected. The Mobilarm V100 for example, is a pocket-sized beacon that can be integrated into a life-jacket and, in a man overboard event, will automatically transmit the Latitude and Longitude directly to the vessel’s VHF radio and then to the onboard electronic charting system for precise in-water tracking.

For Josh Hall, Race Director of the GOR, crew safety is an obvious priority. “Safety is our primary consideration and we are highly impressed with the Mobilarm V100,” says Hall. “This is an item which we will be insisting is carried by each of our competitors as they race around the world. Mobilarm are offering this life-saving beacon to our entries for an exceptional price as part of our agreement with them and we welcome them to our ever-expanding family of high-end Race Partners.”

With the advent of modern VHF technology, equipment such as the Mobilarm V100 provides an invaluable capability to recover a casualty in a man overboard situation. Mobilarm CEO, Lindsay Lyon’s commitment to sailors is total. “Partnering with an international event such as the Global Ocean Race is a natural fit for Mobilarm and we are very proud to be associated with it,” comments Lyon. “The safety of any seafarer, whether professional or amateur, is our number one priority. The Global Ocean Race has shown the highest level of commitment to their participants by mandating use of the Mobilarm V100 and we hope to see more ocean racing organisations follow suit.”

“Offshore racing has inherent dangers,” admits Josh Hall. “If these dangers were absent, most sailors would not take up the challenges they do,” he continues. “However, wherever we have the opportunity to mitigate risks we will do so and we would like to not only thank Mobilarm for their commitment to our event, but we strongly recommend their products to anyone who sails.”
